Clarens Tyson is a Montreal based photographer who divides his work between New York and Montreal.
The way he started doing photography was unexpected, he says. “I was very influenced by the people around me who had DSLRs so I saved all my money and decided to buy a camera with no intentions of becoming a fashion photographer. It actually took me 4 months to find a decent model who was willing to shoot for me. I was very nervous but really enjoyed my first photoshoot and never stopped taking pictures since,” Tyson says.
Now he has begun doing work for top agencies in New York. Tyson’s most recent work is part of his personal album “NY State of Mind (raw,)” which is all about his trips to New York. In this album, Tyson captures everything that inspires him in New York, from models to buildings.
Tyson says “as a fashion photographer, the majority of this album will contain models in a very raw and black and white atmosphere; they aren't wearing any makeup and are barely styled. This album is showcasing them in a natural way. I'm trying to bring emotions to the picture. I want my audience to feel like they were in New York with me.”
