Busted!

Acne is one of the oldest and most common things in young adults but why does it feel like the whole world is staring at your face when you wake up with what feels like Mount Everest on your forehead in the morning? A small pimple can almost ruin your day, even week, but new acne products claim to target them before they appear and after they're gone.

For some of you who want to zap zits before you even feel one coming,

You can use regular blue-light treatments; Tria has an at-home blue-light device in its Skin Clarifying System. You can use this device for two and a half minutes twice a day to kill the bacteria that causes zits.

For when you feel one,

You can use a heat device like Zeno Hot Spot, $60.00, that will kill the bacteria in the pore. I also apply a spot-treatment cream with 2 percent salicylic acid and soothing ingredients. Try NetrogenaRapid Clear Sore Pimple Gel, $15.00, or if you don't have overly sensitive skin you can try Clean&Clear Acne Spot Treatment, $8.00, both available at Pharmaprix.

For when you've popped one,

You can either try a sealing gel like Clearasil Seal-to-Clear Gel or Clearasil's Acne Treatment Cream BP Plus to lock in acne meds and keep out bacteria. Though it may be tempting to apply these creams all day, please resist the urge and apply a pea size only twice a day; An overuse of any acne product can cause a chemical burn. (Which is a lot more painful then a pimple!)

For several weeks after,

Some pimples just never seem to go away! Once the zit has turned from red to brown, you can diminish or help face brown spots on your skin apply a 2 percent salicylic acid and licorice-root extract cream. Try Clearasil Ultra Acne+Marks Spot Lotion to fight those blemishes quickly!
