Solomon Rose, a.k.a Silkie, is a Dubstep artist from London, U.K. He is recognized as the London Grime who turned into Dubstep producer extraordinaire. This artist saw music as a career at a young age, going to raves at the age of 13 when he saw that the new scene was Grime. At 15 he made his first single track, called Dark Square, which played at raves that he was still too young to go to. At 18 years old the artist practiced and honed his skills, as he played with his brother's grime crew Unorthodox as well as Hip Hop stalwarts Mobb Deep, and slowly changed his style for more bass driven instrumental tunes.

As time flew by, Silkie has produced music with multiple artists during the 2000s, being a part of the evolution of dubstep. Dubstep during the beginning of the 2000s was lighter than it is today, as it sounded more like electronica with a bit of dub inside. During those days, dubstep was called Forward Music. The difference between grime and forward music was that forward music contained darker notes as well as pounding synths, compared to grime who had more of a light, ambiance type of electronic music which had lighter melodic instruments. Silkie was proud to take forward music and shape it around, adding a bit of himself in this specific style of music. Soon enough Silkie and his crew were able to get more reputation of this new "dubstep" era that was created. One of dubstep's pioneers, Mala, asked for Silkie to work with him on his new tracks, which he greatly accepted and was then signed on Mala's label, Deep Medi Musik

It took two years of hard work for Silkie to finally get recognized on Deep Medi Musik's label. Once he finally released his City Limits series, City Limits vol. 1, his career went skyward as his album got much acclaim. His album was a mix of his own past fused with dub, which was a solid piece of what Silkie would continue to offer to his fans. With his acclaimed tunes, he was able to gain in popularity as he was playing shows across the world, from England to Japan and New Zealand to Croatia. All of this popularity and acclaim led for this DJ/producer to finally be able to bring out his City Limits vol. 2. This package had multiple collaberations with the likes of Skream, Truth (from Deep Medi Musik's label) as well as Von D. This new set of tunes was better structured, melodic jazzed fused, it was a new shape of music that the world just had to listen to.

Finally, Silkie considers dubstep as Forward Music, even if it has lost the name. Silkie through the years has really put his name in stone in the creation of Dubstep, as well as bringing Forward Music to another level. He is an individual that will truly bring your house down, that will make you think that the unexpected can really be expected.
