WHAT IS THE GRAND CANYON AND HOW TO VISIT IT: GRAND CANYON SOUTH EDGE OR NORTH EDGE?
The Grand Canyon of Colorado is a huge gorge of 446 km long and 1500 meters deep that the Colorado River has dug over the Colorado Plateau over millions of years.
It is almost impossible to visit this vast extension in its entirety, so the first thing you have to decide is whether to visit the southern edge of the northern edge of the Grand Canyon.
VISIT GRAND CANYON SOUTH RIM
The southern edge (Grand Canyon South Rim ) is the area most visited by tourists. Here are the main viewpoints and the beginning of the most interesting hiking trails. However, in turn, it can be annoying to visit during the tourist season (from June to September) for the huge amount of visitors who come to contemplate this wonder of the world.

Within the south bank, we find two entrances, the south entrance, and the east entrance and likewise two zones can be distinguished:
GRAND CANYON VILLAGE
This area is simply known as South Rim. It is the most tourist area of the Grand Canyon and here you will find most of the accommodation, shops, restaurants, viewpoints, etc. As you will see, Grand Canyon Village, the town of the Grand Canyon, is made by and for tourists.

From the town of Cameron, you can access the Grand Canyon National Park through the Desert View viewpoint, from where the scenic road that borders the riverbank begins and reaches the Grand Canyon Village, Desert View Drive.
In this area of the Grand Canyon, there are fewer services, but the views are very similar to those of Grand Canyon Village.

VISIT THE GRAND CANYON NORTH OR SOUTH?
Still not knowing if to visit Grand Canyon, North Rim or South Rim? If you travel to the Grand Canyon with little time, I recommend you visit the southern edge to have the best-known views of the Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon Village or East Rim). However, if you have more time, it can be very interesting that you also visit the north edge.
Keep in mind that there are 350kms of the distance between the north edge and the south edge. To give you an idea, it takes 4 hours by car from the visitor center of the south edge to the visitor center of the north edge, so we do not recommend visiting both banks of the Grand Canyon in one day. ♣
VISIT GRAND CANYON WEST RIM
What is known as the Grand Canyon West Rim, which is the western part of the southern edge of the Grand Canyon, is becoming increasingly popular. This area is not really part of the Grand Canyon National Park but is managed by the Hualapai tribe.
It is only 2 and a half hours from Las Vegas since there is only a distance of 190 km in front of the 563 km between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon Village. This makes many people who go to Las Vegas, without much time to visit the Grand Canyon, decide to visit this area.
The highlight of the West Rim Grand Canyon is the floating glass walkway that looks out over the edge of the canyon, the Skywalk Grand Canyon West.
